KAWAGOE: 696 kWp

Located in Kawagoe city, in the prefecture of Saitama, Japan, this 696 kWp floating pv installation is built on a rain water retention reservoir with an area of 21,200 m² (2.1 ha).

The platform is equipped with Classic version of Hydrelio® technology and supports 2,730 floating solar panels of 60 cells (255W YINGLI standard modules). The total structure covers 38% of the water surface.

For this project, Ciel & Terre supervised the engineering of the floating PV system. Our scope included:

  • Supply of our Hydrelio® (made in the UK) and design of the floating platform
  • Design of the anchoring solution

Anchored at the bottom of the pond, the anchoring solution has been designed to meet a maximum 3 m depth and a same water level variation (3 m, as the pond can be affected by drought).

Kawagoe’s floating solar plant has been operational since June 2014 and generates green electricity to the local grid.
