OOTSUDA IKE: 973 kWp

Located in Tenri, in the prefecture of Nara, Japan, this 973 kWp floating solar plant installed on an irrigation reservoir with an area of 18,378 m² (1.8 ha).

The platform is equipped with Classic version of Hydrelio® technology and supports 3,744 floating solar panels of 60 cells (260W REC standard modules). The total structure covers 57% of the water surface.

For this project, Ciel & Terre operated as an IPP (Independent Power Producer) and project developer, supervising all the project development, and the engineering and construction of the floating PV structure and the anchorage. Our scope included:

  • Management of project development
  • Financing of the project
  • Supply of our Hydrelio® (made in Japan) and design of the floating platform
  • Design, supply and installation of the anchoring solution
  • Operation and maintenance of the farm

Anchored at the bottom of the pond, the anchoring solution has been designed to meet a maximum 5.3 m depth and a same water level variation (5.3 m, as the pond can be affected by drought).

Ootsuda Ike’s floating solar plant has been operational since August 2017 and generates green electricity to the local grid. This is the 4th project Ciel & Terre developed as an IPP in Japan.
