SOHARA IKE: 2,398 kWp

Located in the prefecture of Mie, Japan, this 2,398 kWp floating solar plant is installed on an irrigation reservoir with an area of 36,000 m² (3.6 ha).

The platform is equipped with Classic version of Hydrelio® technology and supports 8,880 floating solar panels of 60 cells (270W MITSUBISHI standard modules). The total structure covers 69% of the water surface.

For this project, Ciel & Terre supervised the engineering of the floating PV system. Our scope included:

  • Supply of our Hydrelio® (made in Japan) and design of the floating platform
  • Design of the anchoring solution

Anchored at the bottom of the pond, the anchoring solution has been designed to meet a maximum 1.8 m depth and a same water level variation (1.8 m, as the pond can be affected by drought).

Sohara’s floating solar plant has been operational since March 2016 to generate green electricity to the local grid.
