UCF ORLANDO: FIRST US PILOT

Located in Orlando (Florida, USA), this 5 kWp floating solar plant is installed on a water storage reservoir with an area of 30,100 m² (3 ha).

The platform is equipped with Classic version of Hydrelio® technology and supports 20 floating solar panels of 60 cells (250W REC standard modules). The total structure covers 0.2% of the water surface.

For this project, Ciel & Terre supervised the engineering of the floating PV system. Our scope included:

  • Supply of our Hydrelio® (made in France) and design of the floating platform
  • Design of the anchoring solution

Anchored at the banks of the pond, the anchoring solution has been designed to meet a maximum 3.5 m depth and a same water level variation (3.5 m, as the pond can be affected by drought).

UCF Orlando’s floating solar plant has been operational since March 2016 to generate green electricity to the local grid.
