Yamakura Dam Welcomed Floating Solar Panels on its Surface
Located in Chiba prefecture, this 13.7 MWp floating photovoltaic plant is the current largest FPV project in Japan and has been developed by KTS (Kyocera TCL Solar LCC.). Japan is considered as the cradle of floating solar with around 70 plants all along the archipelago.
Using Hydrelio® technology by Ciel & Terre®, the plant is composed of over 50,000 solar panels and represents a surface of around 13 ha. The solar farm was connected in March (2018) and is expected to generate 15,635 MWh/year of clean electricity. Furthermore, it is estimated that a such installation saved around 7,800 tons of CO2 emissions and generates an amount of electricity equivalent to the consumption of 4,700 homes.
